We’ve all told ourselves we would work out every single day, eat healthier or wake up early or something and we have all miserably failed at sticking to those goals. The first week you’re very motivated, but during the second week, you start having a hard time getting out of bed. You lack discipline. In week 3 you’re on the couch. You’re watching GOT and binge-eating again. I get it. It’s hard. It might be because your habits lacked planning, because you tackled to much at once or maybe because you just dont know where or how to get started. No worries, I have some tips to help you get started. Lets dive in.
One Habit at a Time
Decision fatigue can kick in when you’re taking on too many habits at a time. You wake up, you don’t know where to start with all of those habits and then you go back to sleep again… Deciding where to start or in what order to do all these habits is a chore in itself. try to focus on one big habit or two small habits each month. This way you’ll slowly build a daily routine. It might take a little longer to see the results but You’ll get there eventually.
Plan Your Habits
It’s important to plan your habit(s) the SMART way. Smart stands for specific, measurable, acievable, relevant and time-bound. Planning your habits makes it more likely you’ll actually do them. Your habits are most likely there to accomplish a bigger and long term goal. So when planning, keep the future in mind.
instead of doing a full one our work-out, try doing a plank for as long a you can every single day. Work your way up from there. Make your habits so small that it becomes rediculously easy. So easy you have to do it, because otherwise you probably can’t do anything. You can add some push-ups after a couple days.
Choose Habits You Like
I’m sorry, but if you hate your chosen habit, whats the point? Dreading it makes it harder to stick to it. It’s impossible to ingrain habits into your lifestyle if you dread doing them.
Track Your Habits
Track your habits with a habit tracker. It’s good to see how for you’ve come. Habit trackers help us to stay on track to meet goals. The act of filling in your completed habits daily gives you a gratified feeling which helps motivate you to accomplish and build healthy habits. I use habit trackers mainly for business. However, you can easily use a habit tracker for literally anything you want to track. I made one for you to get started!
