I always have a hard time making time for everything. I’m making blogposts and promoting them as much as I can, but I’m also in college. Juggling these two things can be stressfull and exhausting. Especially when I don’t set SMART goals and manage my time correctly. Sometimes we spend less time taking care of ourselves and more time working. Here are my tips for having more time for everything you want to do.

Setting SMART goals
Here is what SMART stands for:
In college I learned how setting SMART-goals is very important in business. I made SMART goals in this blogpost about my blogging goals in June.

Specific: break it down as much as you can. Write down every single step. Example: “I will go to the gym and work out 3 times a week. I will train my upper body once a week and my lower body twice a week. Each work-out is an hour long.”.
Measurable: How do you know your goals have been met? Write down your desired result. Example: “I will go to the gym and work out 3 times a week. I will train my upper body once a week and my lower body twice a week. I want my Muscle mass to have increased by 5%.“.
Attainable: Your goals must be realistic. Some things just aren’t possible in the timeframe you’ve set for yourself. If your Goals aren’t realistic you might get discouraged along the way, because you’re not seeing the results you were hoping for.
Relevant: Make sure every step towards your goal is to attain the desired result and nothing else.
Time frame: Set a time frame. Giving yourself a deadline makes it more likely you’ll actually get started and stick to plan. Example: “I will go to the gym and work out 3 times a week. I will train my upper body once a week and my lower body twice a week. After 3 months I want my Muscle mass to have increased by 5%.”.
Use an agenda that works for you
There’s lots of different agenda’s on the market. Finding one that works for you and your SMART goals will definitely help you stay organized on your journy towards your goals.
I like using the Moleskine classic 18-month weekly planner (5″x 8,25″). The weekly spread has the whole week on the left side and an empty page on the right. The empty space is perfect for making your most important tasks SMART. There’s a monthly spread for each month and stickers to be extra organized. There’s also also an XL version for extra busy people.
Bullet journalling seems to be a trend now. It’s nothing for me, really. But if you want full creative control over how your planner is structured it’s perfect for you!
If you are interested in bulletjounalling I would recommend buying the Moleskine dotted notebook (5″x 8,25).
Keep a journal
A journal is very convenient for tracking progress and making to-do lists. I use a journal to write down my objectives for the week, what habits I have to stick to, blog ideas and very detailed breakdowns of blog projects and college assignments. Having a journal on the side help clear up the mess inside my head. Since I have (diagnosed) AD(H)D this is very important to me.
For journalling I use the Moleskine classic squared notebook (5″x 8,25″). The squared help me keep my notes and to-do’s neat and organised.
If you notice you’re on your phone too much start setting a maximum amount of time you can spend on each application. Here is how: home > swipe all the way to the left > sceentime > limits > set limits for each application you use a bit too much. I would’nt spen more then 2 hours a day on your phone, but depends on your career and lifestyle of course.
When you have to focus on a certain task, but still easily get distracted, download the app Forest. Forest is a timer application that plants a virtual tree which starts growing when you set a timer. When you leave the application, the tree will die. This will otivate you to keep going. Everytime the timer gows off you recieve coins and with these coins you can actually plant real trees in Africa! awesome right?
